This is an acrylic painting of a mare and foal running, I originally painted it very large but I recently resisted it and decided that I really like it cropped. The foal is shadowed by the mare in the back of the painting, both of them are extending their front left left legs in an extended trot. Behind the mare there is a faint pattern of a white three plank fence with green negative space.
The foal is painted in grey and blacks with hints of pink and maroon. A smokey white roaning is brushed across his shoulder and belly with blue highlights.
The mare is faintly pink with blue grey shadows and pink yellow highlights. Both mare and foal are cropped at their middles.
