"French Window" - SOLD
This little painting measures about 5"x 5", it is done in watercolor on cold press paper, I started off with a sketch in pencil. there are a combination of techniques used such as dry brush, wet on wet, mingled, scrubbing out, etc. I probably used every method in the book, which is pretty standard. This picture is from a photo reference given to me by my mother, it's a french window with a sort of terra cotta jug and a tin full of little pink flowers, the stone work around the window was tricky and in hind sight I would have done more rigid lines and harder shapes to describe the stones a bit better. I'm pretty happy with it but I think I could have added some more color and maybe done a few more exciting things with the piece, I was looking through my old work and I realized my favorite work is really colorful and striking, I think I do my best work when I take chances.
