"Purple Herd" - Not Available

Description: So this picture is a combination of a few images. I wanted to paint horses because I have missed painting them. I started off with a picture of a window with climbing Wisteria, but I thought it would work better for the darks project. I wanted to use a deep red for this picture so I decided I would use the staining triad that I used last semester for our architecture outdoor project, that way I would have strong pigments which I tend to avoid using and I could use rich deep Alizarin crimson. In that triad I believe there's also Phyllo. blue and Azo. yellow. I used some Diox. purple, and Indian red (I think) too. I can't decide what to do with the manes and tales, but I like it a lot so far. I used plastic wrap for the orange horses texture, salt and splatters for the left red horse and the yellow horse I dribbled with some hand sanitizer. The horse on the far right has been giving me some trouble (of the design sort) and I think I finally decided that I would flip the tale swinging into he painting to frame it better instead of it leading you off the page. The back ground is a mingled was that I let blossom a little.

I have had this song stuck in my head while I have been working on this picture:

These are my notes and guides thus far on the project:

This helped SO much to map out my color usage.
