"School Garden" - Available
Description: Today we went on our field trip to the galleries in Idaho Falls. I can't properly express how inspiring it is to look at works of other watercolor artists. I always get excited and want to experiment with the ideas that I see other artists using. I think that Lori Price has some really amazing work, and I loved how you could see her techniques so clearly. Her glazes where amazing. I think I discovered that I am drawn to glazes more then any other technique. The painting of the jars and the apples was my favorite by far because of the rainbow of colors that all looked dazzling together and there were so many whites left which just made the whole painting that much more impressive because it read so well. The yellow Tulips were also up there on my list, I found myself recognizing subject matter or even methods that were familiar to me. I think that this was a big factor in inspiring me to work. I noticed a tile roof on one of Brother Bird's paintings that looked like my homes roof, and I suddenly longed to paint my home, yard, town, city or any other part of me. Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm. - Ralph Waldo Emerson

This is an architecture painting from last semester. I did it in the staining triad.
